Dance Montenegro is a week-long dance workshop which will take place for the first time at the Princesa Ksenja Ballet School in the city of Bar, Montenegro from March 29 – April 3, 2010. It is an international collaboration which targets young dancers from Montenegro and Serbia, as well as the United States. In the course of the week, young dancers (both amateurs and professionals in training) will take classes in three different styles: Classical ballet, Modern dance and Character dance. The classes will be taught by renowned teachers and choreographers from Europe and the U.S. who will bring unique expertise to dancers who do not have the chance to experience it in their routine dance curricula. Each student will also participate in a choreography set up during the course of the workshop. The goal of the project is to give the students the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of several fundamentally different dance forms, while also allowing them to take part in the creative process. The workshop will close with a Final Concert where the choreographers will show their new pieces. The Final Concert will also star guest companies from the region and the U.S.
